S-Type R/V Mirror Compass Reset
Hi All
I have just bought a 2000 3.0 v6 S-Type, and I have noticed that the rear view mirror compass is almost 180 degrees out, for example when the car is facing due south the compass shows north west.
I have looked in the handbook and can find nothing to relate to resetting the compass.
I am new to this forum and I think it's great.
Any help or suggestions would musch appreciated.

Hi
Thanks for your quick reply, I went straight outside and started to drive around in circles, when I started due south was NW and I noticed that the compass does not say SE, S or SW at any time, it goes from north (which is north) to NE, E the goes back to NE then N again (which is south) then NW W NW back to North!!
Thanks

Wierd indeed. Besides resetting the computer by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for 5 minutes (no less), I am not sure why the compass is reading all N. At first I thought maybe a bad LCD, but that's just strange.
A few techs around here, they'll see your post and possibly give you more ideas.
On a positive note, I rarely EVER look at my compass. When I have the nav system going, I can always tell which direction I am going based on that. I know you would love everything in your new ride to work, but if that is the only thing malfunctioning, you're doing well. And after a month or two, you won't even know it's there. Can you turn it off so it doesn't even come on?

Ok Many thanks, everything else is A OK so I can't be too dissapointed, glad I went for the S-type and not the X-type, all I have heard from people who have the X-type is the excessive road noise and body roll on bends etc, this baby is very quiet and sticks like glue!

You need to make sure compass is set for correct region also.
doing this out my head, so please be patient if I am wrong. I will look up correct procedure if THI doesnt work.
2 buttons on mirror, one says compass and other is mirror of off.
hold down the compass button until it changes to a c in the display. Then drive it in a couple of circles. I have to work today, so I will look it up and report back.

Hi,
I have a 2001 S-type and there are 2 very small holes above the mirror on the mounting assembly. The hole on the right side will allow setting the region and the one on the left will call up a calibration mode. Set your region and then calibrate by driving in a circle.
