Default S-Type random alarm initiation.

2004 S type 2.5 Auto. Car alarm has been going off at random times with no apparent reason. Sometimes it goes for 5 or 6 days without embarassing me and sometimes fires off several times a day. Parked on drive outside my house. Any ideas?

As you've already posted an Intro, I've moved your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to S-Type forum. This is the place to post questions about your model.

Failing battery #1 suspect, either the main one or the backup in the alarm. The former is a lot easier to test/replace.

Depends on what the "alarm" sounds like.
There is a difference between the "normal" alarm, the car's own horn and the back-up "passive" alarm, a near siren sound.
I recently found that the passive alarm can actually detect it's own battery failure and set itself off for no good reason and completely randomly.
