As part of my rear end upgrade for my 2000 S-type conversion project I have been looking at all the various S-type Half-Shaft axles. If this thread takes off, I have a lot of information on all the versions of axles I can post.

I am slowly trying to build up a set of economical axles that will handle 600HP. Yes I know I can have $2K+ stage 5 custom axles built by DSS. I would like to stick to a budget of around $1K max per pair.

Based on all my research on available S-type rear axles, it appears that only rebuilt rear axle assemblies are available. Other than a few dealers here in the USA and the UK, they want outrageous prices, no new axle assemblies are available.

In the not to distant future, we will not have a readily available source of rear axles.

Therefore I have some questions for others more knowledgeable than me.

Does anyone know if any of the inner or outer CV joints are the same in late model XKs and XFs?

Is anyone interested in custom aftermarket axle components? If so, what is the most important? Price? durability? Amount of power/torque they can handle?

Has anyone already had a custom set of axles made? If so, who built them and around how much do they cost?

I have numerous options available for what I am doing, but am curious if it would be worth it to pursue options where a new replacement axle assembly could be created and sold.
