I am in need of a right hand replacement silencer for my 2005 S-type with the 4.2 V8 naturally aspirated engine. According to the parts books that I have seen it takes a XR849449. Since a new one is close to $1,000 with shipping I am searching for a used replacement. I have 2 questions perhaps the group can help me with. A number of used have come up online but they all have the straight cut tips which I believe are for the R model. My question is does anyone know what the difference is between the silencer for the standard 4.2 and the supercharged version? It appears that the supercharged also uses a different intermediate silencer so I believe they are not interchangeable. Also, were all the rear silencers equipped with the slash cuts across the model line except for the R model?
