Default S type tire size

As the title implies, I am in a bit of a pickle with my Jaguar`s tyre sizes. Currently I am with 235/50/17 and my question is: can I use 235/55/17 tires? Will this affect the handling of have any other negative effect?

It will change your speedometer readings by 2.47 mph at 70mph. Your car will read 70, but your speed will be 72.47.

I'd stick to the 235/50/17 tires, they're the right size. The taller 55's will make the handling and acceleration worse. Unless you need them for rough roads to get more clearance, I'd stick to the 50's.

just a reminder that not all tire/tyre sizing is consistent across brands. Check the dimensions if you can find them. I've seen up to 1/2" difference in both diameter and width between manufacturers for same size and class of tires.

Ok, you should use a tire size calculator (e.g., Tire Size Calculator) and check for clearance and, especially, "Revs/Mile". Otherwise your speedo will be out of spec.

I have a 2002 S-Type 3.0 V6 my standard tyre size is 225/55R 16H. I would like to go bigger for clearance on the rough roads of Central America. Does anyone know what the largest 16" tyre I can use without rubbing anywhere?

I have what looks like XK wheels on at the moment. 245/40/18 on front. 275/40/18 on the rear. Jag dealer said incorrect rears. Friends on forum are saying this is possibly where my ABS issues are coming from, which is causing LIMP HOME MODE.

I wouldn't think so (check the wheel guide I've posted other places). Most XK wheels are: 5 lug 4.75 inch or 121mm High Positive Offset and S-Type wheels are: 5 lug 4.25 inch or 108mm High Positive Offset.

That is regardless of wheel diameter.

However, there seem to be exceptions where 2011-2014 XKR-S and 2012-2014 XKR have
5 lug 4.25 inch or 108mm High Positive Offset wheels...
