S Type turbo whine
I have had a S Type 2.7 twin turbo since new. Had it serviced today, and there is a pronounced whine to the turbos which we have never heard before. Garage says it is due to the new air filter. Dont think so as several have been fitted over the last 5 years, and there has never been a problem. I am wondering if during the filter change something may have either not be correctly replaced, or possibly not tightened up. Anybody taken to pieces the 2.7 diesel engine, and point me to possible mistakes by the fitter?
What year is it (and mileage) - any warranty left? Also, if it may be the garage's fault then you need to be careful to leave the (legal) responsibility for fixing it with them. At least think about putting your concern in writing and making sure they have it. (Take in person or signed-for delivery.)
Out of warranty by two years. Returned from Eastern Europe and asked to new diesel filter, and oil change, with emptying of diesel /water trap. Garage telephoned me to say the air filter was dirty ( which it was) and I told then to change it. Car drives fine and no problem with engine management system. I am wondering whether it is very simple such as the air filter having been put in upside down? Car is 2005 and has only done 25K miles
