Default Sewing machine noise from dash?

Picked up my S Type 3L sport (milage 58k) on Saturday and driving home from the dealer I noticed a noise like a sewing machine which increases and decreases with the revs...Any ideas?

Ask the seller / get them to fix it if faulty. Do it soon while you still have a warranty.

Think it may be the steering column adjuster motor as it does not move when the button is pressed in any direction.

Why would the steering column motor change speeds with the engine revs??

I have the same noise from time to time but I can only hear it when it is very quiet around. I have been hearing it occasionally for about two years. No codes, no problems whatsoever. I have the suspicion that it may be some loose plastic that emits the noise. In my opinion- dont fix it if it ain`t broke.

If you do anything yourself you can void the warranty

Might be the actuator motor on the climate blend doors. There are 4 of them, and I had to change them all to get rid of the gurgling noise. Didn't notice them getting louder with increased revs, but did notice the noise continued for a few moments after ignition was off.

Have a look here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...e-kinda-84471/

Thanks for the link to the thread...I will check this out

"Then I saw a post on this forum (thanks JagV8) that said Jag diagnostics could determine which climate blending doors had problems. Jag dealers and maybe some indies had the software.

So, checked with my indie and sure enough, they had the software! Ran it and found 2 doors with 100% failure, the rest with 50% failure".

I have the same noise, doesn't affect anything. It gets faster with engine speed increasing or vice versa. I was guessing it is the EVAP canister solenoid pulsing. That's where it sounds like where its coming from. Driver's side, LHD

Update - I have investigated this further and the actual noise is comming from the drivers side cyldinder bank and the noise is penetrating the bulk head and getting through to the cabin. Sounds like cam followers (does the 3L V6 have these?) first thing I will do is change the oil to the makers spec as I do not know what oil is in there at the moment...Any thing else I should be looking at?

Went to see an independant Jag specialist today who said the engine was fine and as It has a P0420 - Catalytic converter system, bank 1 – efficiency below threshold he thinks it a broken catalyst and it is rattling (did not have a ramp free at the time to confirm this). So I guess I need to replace the catalyst...but which side is bank 1 (UK)

Bank one is RH side no mater what country your in , you will notice the head on bank one is slightly more to the front of the engine on all v8s . Due to the conrods from both banks in pairs sharing a crank position , and must be placed .one in front of the other
