This pipe here has snapped off and the rubber piece has fallen into the hole. It runs past the back of the engine and onto the brake cylinder (front left) of the engine behind the brake fluid tank. Does anyone know what this pipe is for and will it matter if the rubber has fallen down inside?

I logged in via my computer. Yes, I would disconnect this hose and fish out that broken plastic part. Then your going to have to source a replacement fitting.
This is more than likely an air line regarding your emissions and if you leave it "exposed" your going to set a DTC. Maybe you have enough meat on this fitting to get the hose back on unless it broke flush.
This is what I gather from your pic and not going out and looking at my car.
Based on the photo, you must replace the stub pipe and elbow sleeve going to the brake servo. The stub pipe carries JLR part number NCE3193HA, but has been discontinued. The elbow sleeve part number is NCE3254AA.
As parts may be superseded, always provide the VIN when ordering parts from a Jaguar agency.
You must repair the elbow as the vehicle will begin to run lean causing possible misfires and subsequent catalyst damage.
