Default Side View Mirror Cover Replacement

Hello,

Over the past few years, my side view mirror cover has been loose. It finally fell off during a drive somewhere, so I'd like to replace the covers with a set of chrome ones. Can I expect that the set I order will snap on the same way the old ones do or will there be some sort of special installation? It's a 2000 S-Type 4.0L.

Thank you,

Chase

Should just clip on, but note you need the older style not the ones from 2003-on.

The description of the chrome covers mentions that they come pre-applied with 3M double-backed tape. Does that imply they don't snap on? I'm worried that I'd buy something intended to be attached to the old mirror covers, of which I'm missing one.

I looked at a whole range of chrome mirrors covers on eBay UK last week ranging in price from £25 to £80 a pair. However they were all stick on types.
So without the original case to stick them to, they will not be suitable. Or you could just buy a cheap mirror body from a breakers and it doesn't matter about the colour.

The factory ones replace the painted covers and snap on. The junk aftermarket ones are stick on.

You can imagine how well that works!

I think the cheap ones are polished stainless steel not chrome.

True - but even these stick-on ones look good. Got them on my 2002. They were advertised on EBay as for a VDP - which is quite a rarity.

Actually, I purchased the cheap junk ones (chromed plastic and stick on) from Mina Gallery over 9 years ago. They still are attached and look really good!
