Default Sold my STR today

Farewell, land of Jaguars (for now, anyways). My STR is gone to a new owner. I will have some leftovers for sale in a couple of weeks, but since I won't have time to package and ship them for 2 weeks I won't have a official for sale ad up until then.

Aaron, sad to hear that you've sold your Jag, but time marches on and things change.....

I wish you the best of everything in your new ride and look forward to the details asap
Please make sure to post all details along with pics to match.

Thanks for all your efforts as RC in the region too, much appreciated.

Please remember you will always be welcome here, Jag or not

Best

Jim

Thanks, Jim. This forum is a great resource for any Jag owner. The new ride will be in my possession in 2 weeks, I will update then and get my extra Jag parts up for sale.

Damn dude... your STR was fairly well modded and everything... not easy to get rid of the baby you've put so much time and money into doing up huh...

What are you looking to get into next?

Did a local guy buy it? Was he looking for STR's when he came across yours?

Damn, that was one beautiful Jaguar. I'm sad to see it leave the forums, especially without knowing what time it would have ran in the quarter mile at sea level. Enjoy your new ride, e55?

I appreciated your posts on the forum, especially all your drag racing videos. Hopefully whomever bought your car will bring it down to sea level and post some drag times. All around nice looking car with a healthy mods list!

Local buyer, an older gentleman bought it for his wife, so its days as a high performance machine are over. They weren't looking for an S-Type R, just a Jaguar in general. I never even listed it for sale, it was one of my dad's co-workers. In case anyone is wondering about pricing, they book around $10k, I was able to get more for it.

I will have my for sale ad up once I have time to clean and package everything which will be in about 2 weeks.

My next car is something I've been pursuing for almost a year and a half, and I finally had the timing and means to get it, but it meant letting the Jag go. It was now or never before the wife starts wanting kids and such. I will update once I have it in my possession in early August. It was a tough call, but I think I will be happy with my choice.

Seems like a lot of the old guard are leaving when it comes to STRs. My days are numbered as well

There's no question that the S-Type in any flavor is getting a bit long in the tooth these days so the turnover here on the forum does not surprise me....

But as long as my relatively generic 3.0 holds up with no major issues, I plan to keep it. The financials remain near the top of my cost/benefit analysis and the mpg, comfort, crusing ability, and looks all continue to work well for me. No desire at all to sell it at this point (although my wife would like to see it replaced by a newer Mercedes E-Class sedan or a newer Porsche Cayenne SUV)....

The cars I buy and own are typically in the 8-12 year old range, so the STR wasn't really an old car to me. I had 0 issues with it the entire time I owned it except for the things I broke (strange noise from my modified exhaust rubbing something, power steering pump from spinning donuts, and an A/C line that I broke when changing the power steering pump) and I drove it harder than anyone else I can think of. The 03+ S-Type is a great car and very reliable with basic maintenance and my reasons for selling will become clear in a couple weeks.

You are doing a great job of building the suspense.

Always nice to trade up. I got rid of my XKR for an SL65 AMG. What a difference...it makes the Jag look like a complete piece of crap.

What was the price of the SL65 AMG (& age)?

I know nothing about those cars but a quick search suggests they cost at least THREE times an STR. I would hope they'd be better.....
