Speaking to auto Electrician
Hi everyone
Flew down to my home town to speak with the auto Electricians who killed my car
This is what I have found out
They had a Apprentice working on it after it had a problem with the electronic park brake
the apprentice then went to reconfigure the park brake module
and noticed they had no communication with the engine control module even though the car started
the dip **** then tried to reconfigure the engine control module with out a suitable power supply and then there software told him to disconnect the battery and re connect
Then his laptop lost battery power
What i don't understand is why try to reconfigure a engine control module that has no communication
So now I probably just got a boat anchor
Guessing worst case engine control module is bricked
Or car is in anti theft mode
Thanking you
Darrol

And the greatest frustration being that your car probably never had an EPB issue (of itself) but rather a "lowish" (ie less than 12.6V) battery charge.
Well known issue on these models . . . allowing car to start, then reporting failure to engage EPB, then perhaps failure to engage Cruise Contro; etc. etc.
Search throughout this forum. We did an extensive "How to . . . " over a decade ago and it lives in Miscellaneous as "Battery 101" in the Stickys.
Good luck with your ongoing saga, but plan your resurrection around a careful analysis of codes, post them here, then adopt a step-by-step approach.
Best wishes.

This was exactly my guess, as I wrote in response to one of your earlier threads.
I am not sure, how to fix the car, but I am pretty sure that the idiot-Electricians are liable and it should be legally enforceable that they reimburse you for the lost Jag.

Yes these cars are very voltage sensitive
I got into the habit of checking them once a fortnight
Especially after having owned bmws
The main problem with the electronic park brake
Was when you went over a bump it always came up park brake fault and it drove me nuts
Even though park brake worked properly

I have sent ecm to a different company
Hopefully they might be able to repair it
I know i will never see a cent from the auto Electrician
Especially knowing it had $25 k spent on it
engine and transmission have only done 3000km since full rebuild
then there is the lawyer and court costs
Only for then to close down or decide to go into
Voluntary liquidation
Which is so easy to do over here in New Zealand
I get back to my parents Wednesday
And then guess try to sort out a different ecm power and earth wiring connection plug diagram
As the one I had was totally different to what was power and earth on connection plug
Still got a couple of days left in New Zealand
Thanking you

If you have ever had a key in circuit failure code that is what causes the park brake fault. The key gets loose in the ignition over time as the flap and tumblers wear out. Then it jiggles going over a bump and it sets the code. I had one and it got worse so i replaced the flap a few years ago and it cured it. I also used the key by itself and not attached to others on a ring and that helped for weight. It is starting again once in a while so i dont know how i will handle it this time. To verify this. Start car and release the brake then jiggle the key

Even after having two new keys cut done from the jaguar key code numbers
and having the ignition barrel and tumblers replaced
The only thing I didn't replace is the plastic ignition switch at the back
Thanking you

it is the shank of the key that gets loose. I think maybe new keys are a wee bit smaller at the shank than the older ones. Just a guess. Wish i could build up the shank one or two thousandths to fix it permanently
I have a 2001 S-Type v8 with electrical issues that are preventing me from getting going, I have tried everything, new batt. and all.. I am so lost of what to do, I'm so sick of it, but I love the car! other than electrical issues and and obvious short someplace, its only has 26k(?) on it, so sad, It's been sitting for a year now not moving, just a nice thing to look at lol
Anyhow, I feel your pain,,, Jaguar should be sued over the "lemon law" here in the USA...

Like over in New Zealand
Our Government is bringing in road users charges
Dropping speed limits from 100 kmph to 80 kmph
because they say too many accidents
Yet most accidents are from asain Tourist
Example driving along at 100kmph then all of a sudden brought come across someone doing 60 kmph in a 100kmph zone
95% of the time they are asain
Dont get me wrong i have nothing against them
Our daughter's boyfriend is asain
Cheers

Welcome to the forum.
As far as having "tried everything", I'd have to disagree with that statement. You clearly haven't tried the thing(s) that fixes the problem.

Please start a new thread with more details, such as the timeline of the problem, recent history, repair attempts, and your favorite color. We'd be glad to help if we can. Lots of knowledgeable folks on the forum. I'm here, too.

The car is now 24 years old and you want to call it a lemon?
Get the car hooked up to the correct Jaguar SDD system and start fixing it.
Oh and do listen to Karl! That's kind of a requirement on this forum.
