Default Standard vs Sport Shocks for Suspension

I own a 2004 S type 3.0L I believe it has the standard suspension. VIN N11140 last digits 148K miles

Can I put either the sport or standard B4 OE Bilstein shock on this car? Anyone want to share their experience with the sport vs the standard shock on this vehicle? I'm thinking of staying with the standard version but would consider the sport if others felt it was a good alternative.

What other parts should I order right away for replacement? Strut mounts, bushings, or even springs? None of these have ever been replaced to my knowledge.

Thanks for your assistance.

First post, welcome to the forum.
"Sport' suspension means electronic dampers with all the associated hardware. In other words, computer controlled electronic dampers. You could theoretically retrofit this I would think.
In most world markets, the standard '2.5 V6' and '3.0 V6 SE' models had 'sport' suspension as an option. The '3.0 V6 Sport' however came with 'sport' suspension as standard.
I think both standard dampers and 'sport' dampers may have been made by Bilstein.
If you have a plug coming out of the damper tower mounts then you have the sport (CATS) suspension.
If not you may have the option of choosing several different brands of dampers.

The springs may have sagged but not a worry to leave originals in, mounts are long lasting as well. Wishbone bushes all round and associated arms in the front will need attention. Just normal wear and tear. The 2 front forward arms need to be removed to see if wear is apparent. The rest of the cars suspension including all anti roll bar bushes will have normal wear as well. Without supplied history or commentary by the PO you will need to have a good look.

I would replace sway bar bushings and end links. Probably tie rod ends-be sure and check the rear toe rods as they will be shot. Strut mounts for sure. Probably all the rubber boots will be split. Some replace them with new and re grease. I just run them until worn or making noise. The front upper A arms are always in terrible shape but carry little load so they can be left until later too. At a certain point it's up to you because with 148K miles and 16+ years on the car you can be sure everything is well worn.

Unless the car sits funny I never change springs.

Maybe get under the car before ordering anything so you know what you have?
