Default Replacing Base Model Struts/Shocks with Sport Suspension Struts/Shocks??

Hey guys-- is it possible when replacing my High Series 2004 X Type (w/3.0L) front struts to order replacement struts (w/sport suspension) instead of the base model (w/o Sport Suspension)??? Is the sport suspension strut just a bit stiffer ride, or are there other physical differences in the actual part?

The reason I ask is because the struts and shocks for X Type vehicles with sport suspension are cheaper than the base model struts and shocks... go figure?!!?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Should just be a stiffer ride. Nothing different with mounting at all. Same physical part, just different internals.

ehaglund, should work, but also keep in mind that the sport model X-Types sit 1.4" lower than non-sport versions. So, upward travel is not much of an issue, but you may find that shock damage may occur if say you hit a pothole and the wheel is allowed to go to full travel down. Something to think about. It may be one of those things that you would need to give Bilstein a call and see if the overall dimensions of the shock are the same (ie, full extension length, full compression length) a the only difference is the valving.
