Starting Problem

Starting Problem
I have a 2001 S-type 3.0 that won't start from time to time. While the car is in park or neutral all I hear is a click when I turn the ignition. I have to wiggle the shifter and continue turning the key over and over until I get lucky and it starts. Then the car starts regularly for a while until it happens a again. I notice that the click is coming from near the compartment area. I have replaced the shifter to eliminate other problems with getting it into gear and to eliminate this problem but this problem persists.
Can anyone help me or has anyone had problems like this?

Hey,
I'm also experiencing this. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-times-127335/ I took mine to mechanic and they couldn't find anything wrong ~ so they say. They even reported the car started 40 times without issues when it was with them. But it still happens.
I'm ready to sell mine, but it's hard to sell a car I know has intermittent starting problems... sigh
Thee guys here have been helping here in my thread >> https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-times-127335/. And this thread >>https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...andomly-56931/ is another where someone else seemed to be experiencing this issue

As I put in your other thread your battery 12V is very low. Get the correct battery, charge it for 12 hours and it should be 12.6V or so. See if problem persists and if so move on to next step (re-post on here), but chances are it'll be fixed.
Has the hose (under the intake) which commonly perishes been replaced as it can cause odd things.
