Steering Wheel replacement Clockspring implication
Hi all,
Times come and I'm selling my beloved S type R. Lined up a buyer and need to change the steering wheel for him. I've read in the forum that you must beware of the dreaded clockspring!!! Has anybody got any experiance with the removal of the steering wheel and the implication of the clockspring in that process??? In the JTIS it states the clockspring must be locked down in the process (with a special lockdown tool which i don't have). Is it imperative to have this tool?
Any help would be appreciated.
regards
Joe

You don't have to mess with the clock spring if all you are doing is replacing the wheel. The reason they want you to lock it down is so you don't accidentally rotate it while it's not connected to the wheel. Just take care to keep it in the same position and resist the urge to rotate or move it out of curiosity and you will be fine.
