STR guys, I need your opinion

i think it is pretty decent price , and coming from jaguar dealer , u can expect no hidden damage ,
i got Stype r at 4000$ les than book value , needed transmission service and rims straightened , got a quote 400$ per wheel for repair and chrome , 700$ for new oil pan and oil , and few other things ,
end of story , i wud have payed 4000$ more if i got a deal like that ,
its worth the extra money especially if ur not gud DIY ,
i wud say go for it , very nice STR

I bought my 06 STR in Jan 09, It was about 2.5 years old at the time and had 29000 miles on it.
Paid 23,500. Houston Texas car. This was at the height of the economic down turn.Has all the options except the fancy cruise control.
I think used car prices have gone up quite a bit since then.
We have been looking at 09-10 XKR's and they seem to be holding their price in the market consistantly for sometime now.

Many STR owners will disagree but here goes....
Forget the STR look for a sweet 4.2 S instead!
1. Lower price
2. Less trouble
3. Much better ride
4. Better mileage (not much 1-2 MPG maybe)
5. Probably much better cared for
In my opinion, the difference between 300 and 400 ponies is not that impressive and certainly not worth the added expense in the initial price and
subsequent constant repairs.
Just my 2 cents.

I think you make some good points. I could live with less power but I'd like better handling without the harsher ride that aftermarket springs & shocks always bring. I don't think the chassis is up to the engine's power.
There was a sport version of the NA V8 right?
How's that compare handling wise with the STR?
The low profile tires and wide rims are a real hazard issue so that would be a plus for the NA version.
Where I drive the mileage on the STR is just horrible and on trips it's a couple less mpg than my 2001 Sable wagon so that's pretty good. You do have to keep your foot out of it though. Where's the fun in that?
