Default STR Port and Polish

Hello to everyone here, new on this forum, wrote my intro earlier toady for new members. I got my 06 STR a while back (Copart Auto Auctions) and am putting it back together a part at a time. Since my front end is all taken apart and engine is easily accessible, I would like to know what type of performance gains will i get if I were to port and polish head and s/c. I will be getting the lower crank pulley kit from eurotoys, I know of eurotek designs but don't know if they carry a lower crank pulley kit. Any thought will be appreciated. Thanks.

Both will help, also do the smaller upper pulley....Have fun w/ the crank pulley I heard it is a PITA

No idea on gains numbers for you.....yet......soon I will have a dyno of the upper pulley and exhaust over stock.....then the p/p of the blower and lower crank pulley dyno, then meth and tune dyno......

Crank pulley came off very easy. I have the proper puller. My brother is a class 8 diesel mechanic and has a good verity of tools.

welcome sivkov! Sounds like you are going to have one nice ride! How about posting up some pictures of the rebuild. You may have to make a few more posts before you can attach pics.

sivkov y, Two weeks ago I met with Euro Tek's owner Phil. He claims to tune STR ECU's but buys his parts (pulleys, etc.) from Euro Toys, and has other shops do the install. From the info. garnered from Euro Tek's owner my personal assessment of this co. is: How can one sell a package tune for an STR without the ability to provide verifyable dyno sheets and customer testimonials and references? Initially I was very excited to go with them but quickly became smart and will refrain. I am presently working something out for us with Broadway Performance, NJ. Let us know what you dig up while doing your project 06 STR.

I am on the west coast around Portland OR, there are a good selection of shops around here that do a lot of the type of work i am intrested in (port and polish) so i think i will be safe for now. i dont know if i will send my ecu in for a custom tune, have not done to much thinking about it yet. I do my own work for the most part that does not require all the special machining tools.

I did a bit of shopping around today and got some quotes for that work to be done.

Nutter racing http://www.nutterracingengines.com/index.html
quoted me $750 per head with me doing most of the work, with them just getting the heads already disassembled.

M&B Cylinder heads want $50 @ hour. This dude also does quite a bit of cylinder head work for all the rice burners around here. He also specializes in Class 8 heavy truck cylinder heads.

Be aware the bottom pulley problem is not the removal and replacement. The problem is interference with the oil cooler when going to a larger lower pulley. Some lower pulley set ups relocate the oil cooler. Others do not and it gets very tight in that area. These complications are why I am very interested in the "Snake Bite" kit. It keeps all the pulleys stock and changes the gearing internally in the front drive or snout.

Riski-I don't want to hi-jak sivkov-y thread?? But yes I have purchased a used Jaguar M112 Eaton (2005) blower. I am saving money and trying to find out all the details on the "Snake Bite". A little worried about the increase in noise?? Plan to keep my car together and get the used blower all done and then swap it all out some weekend.

I used the Mina boxes or mufflers and they really did not add anything I could tell? They are nice and quiet. Only a little more rumble than stock.
