Default stype missing at low rpm

Hi. I am new to the forum and have a question about my 2000 stype. This thing screams at times but has a missing problem at lower rpm. Mess with the gas a little and it shoots like a rocket. I am sure this is not uncommon so does anyone know what the fix is. I have no codes on my obd2. Only the missing at low rpm““s.

Just bumping you to the top- I think youmight get more response if you let us know which engine you have, mileage, what maintenance you've done etc.

Might be dirty air filter, bad plugs etc.

If the 3.0, likely air leak and most likely the PCV hose. Lots of those on the forum already so just do some reading. Check fuel trims as the threads say if you want to confirm.

Default More Info

Sorry about the missing info. This car has the 4.0L V8 with 27,000 miles. I just bought it and it ran great for the first day. then the missing started. It has become so bad now I don““t want to drive the car. I now have the ABS and Traction control lights on as well. Still no codes on my OBD2. The previous owner changed a sensor recently but he doesn““t remember which one. I checked for vacuum leaks but unable to find any. Disconnected then reconnected the battery and now the car started and ran just fine for a few miles. What is the best OBD computer to get? Mine is new but inexpensive.

Best will be more than $10K. AutoEnginuity is good but still about $450. I'd just get the cheapest elm327 you can and make do.

Most likely you have bad coil(s). Look for contamination and/or just replace some/all. There are threads about oil / water getting in the plug wells. Have a read

Still worth checking fuel trims but coils are most likely.

Default s Type AC issue

Thanks for the advice. I thought it might be those darn coils. I am going to change them and the plugs so I know what I“ve got. Also the low side on the AC is running high between 50 and 80. I am chnagin out the heater control valve first and the DCCV. Is that possibly the compressor has an issue or will the DCCV also cause the high reading?

Default Went to the Jag Dealer and Guess What?

Just a note. Went to the Jag dealer on the miss of the V8 and here““s what they said: Clean your battery posts, They have corrosion on them. The guy told me that the reason the car was running bad is that the battery did not get a good connection to the computer. Therefore the computer was throwing a fit. Just for people to know that the battery corrosion played a major role in the problems that I had on the car. She now ppppuuurrrrssss like a kitty should.

Hey! Good fix!

The momentary peak current needed is quite high (and must happen very quickly) so bad connections will be a problem, but I'm a bit surprised it can cause what you suffered.

Outstanding quick fix. My Harley used to just DIE with no woring as soon as it got hot. Ended up just being the - batt cable 1/4 turn out. It felt tight, but had a bit of corrosion that once heated up, seporated the conection just enough. lol crazy how sensitive some electronics are.
