Hi all,

New to the forum! Recently, my 2005 Jaguar S Type R's sunroof stopped working. It was propped open on one side, I tried to pop it out (probably a stupid mistake, this is my first car). Either way, it stopped working, so I took it to a trusted mechanic in the community in NJ.

He said the issue is that the track is broken -- not the glass and not the motor. He said he had looked into replacement parts online and that it would cost $700 for the parts and $300 for the labor.

I found a track replacement (without the glass and the motor) online for very cheap, and it seems like it would fit the car based on the item's description. The mechanic said he's fine with me ordering the parts and he'll give it a go, but he warned me that the S-Type R Supercharged has a different body shape than a regular S-Type.

So, my question is -- do the experts in this forum think that this part will fit despite his warning? I'd also appreciate it if anyone has any other concerns or flags that I should consider.

The STR is a little different but I _think_ the sunroof and indeed entire roof area is not different.

See if others have more knowledge.

 

No difference in the body between the R's or any other S-Type?
Yes those parts are after market but do look correct.
Be SURE all 4 moon roof drains are open and drain water!

That car has a Webasto MoonRoof. Model SOLAIRE 4300.
