Hi, I have a S-Type 2003 V8 Sport Package with 102,0 Km.

I could not have a constant temperature in the car since few month, When i came back from Maine US this summer the air conditionning was Ok for the first four hours, after the air conditionning stop and i receive hot air, i have to close the system and wait 20-25 minutes and the system was OK.

I was chek the air conditionning in a special garage and every thing is OK for that. Now if i want to have warm in the car i have to set the temp to 85 F, and after if i go to 72 F the temp stay very warm , i have to set to 50 F to stop this temp , and came back to 80 F . In the car it is very warm or cold ?.

Do you think it is the In car sensor temp is not OK .

I buy this at the dealer but it is very hard to replace, i have to take out the dash, this sensor is near the ignition (back).

Hard to make a definite diagnosis on the internet but it sounds like it could be the evaporator outlet temperature sensor and it is easy to replace. I would recommend a code scan to verify but these sensors can fail in range and not set a code. For instance the evap outlet temp could be 35 degrees but the sensor is reading 95 degrees, this would not set a code but will cause the problems you describe. The sensor is cheap and is installed in the climate control air box just above the throttle pedal(LHD). It's either a white or glow in the dark(no better way to describe it) looking sensor with a 2 wire connector and it just plugs into the air box. Just give it a tug and it will pop out.

 

Sounds just like the problem I had with my 03 v6 car .I have it set at 65 and it would blow out very hot or I have it set at 89 and it would blow out cold. They were replacing sensors left and right and the module. Then they replaced the evap outlet temp sensor. That fixed the problem for me. I told them to take a look at that sensors that a tech told me about it on here, and it was right for my problem. At my dealer they are a pain. They don’t like me there; they thinkI don’t know anything. The tech told me that sensor never goes bad. When I first brought the car in. But in the end I was right after 2weeks of them playing with it and help form the fled tech.I don’t know if that would fix your problem but for $20 or so you can try it yourself before you go to the dealer or shop. I think there are two sensors that u can replace yourself. I think there is one on the drive side under the dash.

 

Did any of your a/c blow hot air out of your side vents and blow cold in the center vent?

Now i have hot air in the left vent on the driver side and cold air in center and the rith side, i went to the dealer last week and they said me , they have to take off the dashboard (10-12 hours labor) to find what is the problem ?? and i pay 300$ just for that.

I you known what i have to remplace i aprreciate your answer.

Has the DCCV (Dual Climate Control Valve) been replaced yet? It is up front by the radiator. This is the leading cause of mixed temperature from the climate control system. The valve will stick and send heated air to one side and the other side will work as normal.

Also use the Ford part!!! Will save much money. Someone on the list did a great job and found out that there are two different DCCV parts. One is a 3 hose version and the other is a 5 hose version. Same part used on the Lincoln LS. You can get it from Rockauto. Please do some searches for DCCV and you will find it, along with the proper part numbers. The Jaguar valve cost me $300 but now I know the Ford part is identical and only about $180!! Your V-8 will take the same part as my STR and it is a 3 hose version.

Is it the same V8 in the Lincoln LS is it the same year 2003 ?

Not the same V8 but shares some parts so it's worth finding whether you can use the LS parts. Sometimes not at all easy to figure out.

 

I change the DCCV and buy the Ford Part (Number 18495) cost 201,00$ and at the Jaguar Dealer the part is 393,00$.

This piece I have the identical problem , cold air Center side (passenger cold and driver warm not very cold) , hot air left side (driver) , and hot air on feet.

When i put the control to MAX , I have cold center (both driver an passenger) and hot airdriver side on left also hot air on feet.

I'm in Quebec too, and had the identical problem several years ago on my 2003. After 4 visits to Decarie Motors, they found it was a sensor under the dash, possibly the drivers side. I'm glad the car was still under warranty.

That's why it took four visits to get mine fixed. You're throwing parts at the car hoping you find the correct one.

 

I have same issue and have replaced DCCV and evaporator sensor and I still have HOT air on both driver side vents. I've seen where Brutal mentioned the burnt wire on some models. I have navagation sys and I think he said that he had'nt seen that problem on these. How likley is it that the control module is bad?
