Default Thank you to Tom Wood Jaguar and forum members!

I have never had more professional service than my experience with Tom Wood. My car is now running impeccably and I have Tom Wood Jaguar of Indianapolis and the forum members that helped get me in contact with Steve (XJRGUY).

For those of you that have not read my previous threads, they can be found here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...er-load-57495/ and https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...give-up-58876/

Conclusion: bad MAF sensor (under-reporting incoming air) and failing torque converter (causing lurch and RPMs to jump up and down by 200 during warmup). The car is running great now!

Glad you got it sorted. By the way, how many miles on the car? Just wondering at what mileage your torque converter began to fail. I read about failing torque converters on the STRs, but rarely on the non-STRs. The 6-speed ZF is supposedly fairly rugged, but I wonder if the STRs punish it a bit too much....

Firstly, I'd like to say congrats on getting your issues fixed

secondly, a big thank you for coming back and reporting that they were fixed, giving kudos to Steve (XJRGUY) and others here for their help.

Awesome news jagstr03! I believe my 03 STR is presently going through the same situation that you resolved...failing trq. converter. Just another repair...never seems to stop...I still love her though.

The car now has 67,XXX on the clock. I bought it with 59,XXX and it was noticeable after I started it up the next day after purchasing it.

Thanks for the acknowledgement, Joshua, I appreciate your giving me the chance to tackle the challenge. You had already made a rather valiant effort yourself, with the help of the Forum. I think I told Gus the other day that this is by far the best Forum out there, with many more open minds that on others; and way less preaching and name calling.

I guess I'll also have to say thanks to John [JagV8], for throwing me under that bus in the first place.............all the way from Yorkshire!! Luckily I came out unscathed, this time!

So, thanks to everyone for all the help, advice, kudos and general goodwill. Glad to be a part of it!

Cheers,

Seems to be a trend here? A number of 2003 STR's have had bad TQ's. Nothing yet on the later years. I am crossing my 2005 STR fingers that is related to the 2003 STR only!
