Default Throttle Body opinions

I get stuck in Atlanta stop and go traffic, and on a weekly basis, I get the infamous P1584 code, with a fail safe mode for about 5 to 10 seconds before returning to normal. Only other problem on a 98k mile car is most likely the clock spring, since a B1932 code is persistent and steering wheel radio controls are toast (one problem at a time....)

I'm on the fence on cleaning the throttle body, since many here say it causes more problems, and others say it's necessary. Any ideas specific to S-Types?

I'd clean it but remove power first. And be very very gentle especially with the coating.

I don't think it will change the code happening, but it feels worth trying.

Agreed. Just take your time and be careful. Think "wiping" rather than "scrubbing"....

I was thinking of only SPRAYING - with dedicated TB cleaner. I won't use Carb cleaner - I hear bad things about the solvents present.

Might not have ever been done, so we'll see what it looks like in there.
