Time to eat "Crow"
A couple of months ago I did a really dumb thing. I sold the first car in a long time that I actually "loved". A lot of reasoning and "I told you so" from friends and neighbors convinced me I was doing the right thing and cut my losses. I've regretted that decision since driving home in the "new" car. To make matters worse, I see my old car now and then driving around town. Obviously not as "terminal" as I was led to believe by my mechanic. In any case, many of you commented on my decision then and even now and I appreciate it.
So, I've decided to buy another S-type but this time, a fully documented one. My friends thanks I'm senile (they may be right) but I'm tired of my "sellers remorse" and want to reset the clock. I've learned a lot from this forum and this time will actually apply it. This time I know what I'm getting in to and I know the consequences of blindly leaving the maintenance/repairs to others. I'll let you know how my search/purchase turns out but mainly just wanted to thank you all for being here and "sticking" to your beliefs in the S-Types. Even the ones that chastised me for giving up! You know me better than I know me.

KC, you can't change the past only look to the future.
There are 2 very well maintained (and documented) long time forum members selling their S Types. One an STR (tbird6) and the other 4.2 NA (scmike). Look in the classifieds. Either one you can not go wrong with! There is another member that mentioned he will be putting his STR up for sale soon.
Good luck, if you are serious get ahold of one or the other mentioned above.
Darn, I hate typing on the mobile, way to sloowww. WTG tbird

I understand what you mean.
I've been driving 30 years now and I've had probably 20 different cars since then, and there's a few that I sold and later regretted.
I have a 2006 Ford Mustang GT that I've had since I bought it brand new off the dealer's lot. I'll have owned it nine years this November. ( traded in my 2000 frc Corvette for it... Little regret there lol). Anyway, I've thought a few times about selling the Mustang but then thought better of it and decided to keep it. I know I would regret it.
There is a list of " to do" things on my S Type and its been in the shop for a week which looks like it needs a new ECM, however I do miss it already. I've lost my cool with it ( see Naughy Car thread), but now I've thought better and will try to get this car's issues fixed because it is a nice one!
Glad that you're back and good luck with the new car! This forum
Is great, and these cars are a great learning experience and quite an interesting ownership!
tbird6, glws! I'd love to have an STR, especially one from a member here, but I'm just not in the market for one

A massive +1 on the above, well documented, cars that have been enjoyed, loved and looked after.
Certainly very well worth checking out for sure.
Good luck and hope you get back into one soon
I have owned my '05 STR for over 3 years now, and sometimes think "is it time to move on?".
So, have to smile when I read this thread and also this one: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...05-str-138034/
...because, between them, I get to look into a future without my STR, and it's a future I don't think I will like.
I read the specs and prices of the XE series, and see that top of the line supercharged rwd model does 0-60 in 4.9 secs, has all the options of sunroof, auto-dim mirror, backup sensors, etc, etc. Really, not unlike my STR, except that the XE costs $60-70k, while the STR has a market value of $3-10k.
Right now, all that stands between me and an almost-new STR is a new drivers seat. Everything else is in great shape. Another $6-8k for a bare-bones twin-screw S/C upgrade should take care of the 0-60 problem, if it mattered.
Looking good, STR.
