Default Tire Screech

I changed the brake pads and rotors on my 2000 S Type and now the front right tire makes a screeching noise when I back up and a general metal rubbing noise when I drive. I've done the brake "seating" thing while driving but the noise still occurs. Any recommendations before I take it to a brake shop?

You might check the springy shims that hold the pads in place. I bent one on installation and it made a terrible noise every time I drove.

Make sure you didn't bend the backing plate.

Default tire screech

I depressed the springy parts (pistons) to fit the calipers over the new pads. I also removed the shims otherwise new pads would not fit. Removed tire a second time but could not find a problem. Will redo the brakes and drive again. Thanks for the tips.

Sounds like you put a pad in backwards.

Default Yikes ! Brakes....

Did you also pull the fuse for electric parking brake and reset it. Also make sure that the cable allow full parking brake pad retraction. Check it all again and see if something is not seated or fitted and look for reports or witness marks on parts that might be rubbing. A little blue chalk on anything suspect will tell you in a hurry .

Default tire screech

Guys, I would really like to thank everyone for their suggestions and repair options. After pulling the tire off a third time and looking over everything, I discovered that the rotor wasn't fully seated. After putting everything together and doing a test drive, "Blue" is back to a noiseless purr! Thanks again everyone.
