TPS problem/need help...
My 2003 S-Type recently went into the fail safe mode (can not drive). A code reader indicates that the problem is the throttle position sensor. After wasting a couple days trying to purchase this part with conflicting info, I decided to contact a Jag Dealer who informed me that this part is not available for my vin # it is sold as a unit only attached to the throttle body and is $2200. Really? Has anyone been through this nightmare or perhaps knows an easy fix ? I am open to all suggestions, I need to get rolling again soon. Thanks...

Read the net about ETC (electronic throttle control) and similar names for these very high-tech, high-precision, high-cost items. And this forum, where Search will help.
You would need skills you don't sound to have (and most people don't have) to disassemble and fix the TB (throttle body).
If this happened once, clear the code and hope it doesn't come back.
Cleaning is not recommended but you may wish to attempt it if the problem keeps happening and if you've read up on the possible causes and have made sure they're not happening.
You might try an exact, used, replacement.
