Default tranny issues and fluid in 04 S type R

Hello
My 04 Stype R has 121,000 km on it,I have noticed some wetness around the transmission lines but no drips on ground.I am preparing to do a transmission pan and oil change using redline D4 atf.The vendor who supplies the kits here only recommends lifeguard 6 fluid.
I occasionaly notice that my car surges at slow speed in town and also that it takes time for it to shift into 6th on the highway. Both of these issues come and go.I also find that if I am not delicate leaving from a stop light after slowing down, the car will lurtch or violently shift down.It does not do this if I am gentle with it.
Any thoughts please?
Thanks.Fitz

I wouldn't take the risk on using a different fluid. Land Rover shops may have the best price for it.

Various help in the FAQs.

Welcome FJG. My STR is going through the same... You likely have a worn torque converter. New is $1500, a rebuilt can be procured for $460. Swap this in along with a trans. pan/filter/fluid kit, and you're on your way.
