Tranny Question
Hello Folks;
I may be whacking a Dead Horse here... But I have a question. I've been looking at a 2003 STR, and when I drove it... It would either jump right into 2nd from 1st (just bam-bam) or it would pause and hesitate. I quickly took her back and told the salesman (who acted astonished) what it was doing. They assured me they would take it back to the Jag Technician and have it checked. When I e-mailed them today...this is what they replied {The Transmission on the Jag Wasn't Flushed. it had a Fault code that was making it skip the 2nd Gear. this was Caused when we were charging the battery. One of the other Salesmen left the lights on, so it had a dead battery. while Charging the Battery, one of the cables from the Charger came undone. this basicly put the Jag on Lock down to prevent damage to the System. Thus Making it throw a code. I have driven the Jag and it shifts perfectly now. The. AC. has a Hose that needs to be replaced. Its not a Major Fix something simple.}
What do you think? Does this ring true, or is something not quite Kosher here?
Thanks Folks
Drive On!!...

Unless you can go back in time and read the codes (using a dealer tool) that may have been there you'll never know for sure. Driving it again may be your best bet.
The gear changes sound like "the lurch" (google it) which is nowadays a reflash so no big deal. If they don't know that, it could be a way to talk the price down.
