Turn signal replacement question

Turn signal replacement question
My brother in law picked up a set of new LED turn signal indicators for his Ford pickup truck and they're fantastic. The OEM turn signal bulbs on his truck are amber, just like on our S-types.
What's neat about the LED bulbs is that when you turn on the vehicle, they turn on and are a white LED. When you signal, they change from white to a flashing orange LED. Turn signal off, and they're back to the white LED.
I've found the proper LED bulbs that will fit in our S-type and I asked the seller on ebay about them.
Here's his response :
This item will fit on 3457a sockets as well. Actually 3457 and 3457a is the same bulb type in different names. Please just make sure the bulbs that you are replacing are for dual function switchback light.
*Some cars required 5-ohm 50-watt load resistors when using LED bulbs on turn light.
Of course, not being an electrical type guy, this went right over my head.
So my question is, given what he said, will these work in our cars???
Here's what they look like :
Thanks for any help you guys can lend!
Oh, and the great part, if these will actually work - they're only $39.99USD on ebay!
Cheers,
Rob

I'm a very mechanical guy, but with electrical stuff, the red wire goes to the + sign. lol
Thanks for the free bump - I figure with all this talk about HID's, surely someone would know if our turn signals were dual function switchback lights and if we needed 5-ohm 50 watt resistors as well (see, I glazed over there again. )
Cheers,
Rob

Those should work on our cars fine, But they will hyperflash. To make them flash at a normal pace you need to replace the turn signal relay with a Led relay, they are just plug and play and only cost about 15 dollars. I posted a link to them a month ago or so I'll see if I can find it again.
update ok found the link enjoy, this should fix a hyperflash problem with led turn signals.

As the resident Electrical Guru, I'll chime in here.
They will be a direct replacement for yours. Our cars don't use dual function bulbs though. (On steady with parking lights, blink with turn signal). They just simply blink.
Now you may need a load resistor for two reasons. LED's use a lot less current than their tungsten fillament counterparts. SO this may lead to two things.
First the blinker blinking really fast (as if a bulb is out)
Second - the dashboard giving you a bulb out warning.
Here are the resistors:
50W 6 Ohm 7440 LED Light Bulbs Flash Fix Load Resistors | eBay
You wire them "across" the two wires. Basically one end to + one end to -.
Take care,
George

Do you mean you want to use them as daytime running lights?
If so, then you could run a separate wire for the power to the side lights that comes live when the ignition is switched on, but you might also cause a feedback loop through the lighting circuit that could pop up a message or mil.

It's not hard to do by any means, but knowing how sensitive these cars are to electrical modifications, it would be easier to fit the resistors and flick the switch.
You could I suppose run them to a separate switch if you have somewhere to locate it that won't be detrimental to the interior appearance.
