Two things annoy me with this model, and I am hoping someone found answers to them. 1st is that plastic around the front door opener. Most of the pics I have seen are broken as mine. The rear ones are fine. Super glue is not the answer; I tried.
The other one is the windshield wiper. I cannot find a way to pull them up enough so I can properly clean the rubber. Opening the bonnet does not help.
Is there anyone who found ways around these? Thanks
Open the hood and front power distribution box. Locate fuse #23. Turn on the wipers and pull that fuse mid travel. That should stop the wipers away from the park position.
Scottjh9, thanks for this. What I want to know is why they are broken. They move about every time I open the door. Is it a question of alignment? Thanks

Hi Rober2 (Roberto?),
can't help with the wiper, as I am currently working on all corners of my S-Type (this includes having removed the wipers to get to the engine (cam covers)). And while this would be the ultimate way to be able to clean the wipers (removing the wiper arms), I would not recommend this, as this involves the use of a puller, as those wiper arms sit really tight. Maybe removing the blades from the arms would be a way, but there has to be an easier way...
Anyway, because I have currently taken everything apart, I also have currently the bezel removed from the inner door handle. I have taken a picture from the backside of that bezel. inner door handle bezel backside S-Type
There you can see the 3 "pins" poking out, and which are latching into the opposing "clips" in the door, holding the bezel - thus, if those 3 are latched in, there should not be any movement. Thus, you can also (carefully) lever that bezel out to repair it. In the past I used a soldering iron to melt the plastics together again, but over the years I now got away from that, as it is time-intensive and frequently does not last very long. I found a better way: heat glue sticks! (heat glue gun). Obviously, you have to apply that stuff, where it cannot be seen (from the back) and restore the visible surface the best you can. But note, that there are also glue sticks of different colours...
Cheers, Peter

Thank you, Peter. I like your bezel way, and I think I will enjoy fixing them this way. I think I will swap the rear unbroken ones with the glued ones. They look the same size. Thanks for the lesson on what they are called. Further, you are correct, it is Roberto. Cheers mate. If I may ask, where are you in NSW?
The door handle surrounds are a pain!!! The doors house two weaknesses - the locks and the window regulators so the door card and associated components need to be dismantled from time to time for repairs. That surround is a tight fit and mechanics are rarely careful working with the wrong tools applied to the wrong points. Result is damage and replacements are rare and expensive Some plastics such as ABS can be "welded" with suitable solvent glues creating a very strong repair. I expect that is the way to go with these parts if new replacements are not available.
The wipers are awkward but not such a big deal. The arms use the J hook design and so the wiper blade can be removed in a matter of seconds, cleaned and replaced easily, if just lifting them a little is not sufficient.

Thanks, NeilR. I found some on Ebay except they are never the correct colour. Glue weld is what I will try. J gate on the wiper arms? I will try that. Cheers
I have been living with some rust around the speaker enclosure for a few years now. It is a beige colour and the small specks of rust are mainlly along the bottom edge. I thought that if I oould separate the mesh speaker cover from the panel itself I could take it somewhere and have it professionally sprayed or I could spray it myself if I could find the right colour.
Is there much to removing these front door panels? Any videos of it being done somewhere?
@ muskox3437: google "Door Clip Trim Removal tool" it comes in handy to remove the door trim. Esp. the wide tool. I however did it without these tools but used a huge screwdriver very carefully - AFTER: removing those 2 little screws hidden under the rubber inlay in the inbuild tray and after removing that door-latch-bezel. So after that you just pull the whole thing off - and possibly break a few clips, which you can however find very cheap on aliexpress.
@ Roberto: I saw your reply only just now. I am in Taree. I have been in Geelong decades ago - briefly - doing my PPL A @ Morabbin. You might not know, that there is a little airport/airstrip not far from you with a funny feature: At night you can select some kind of frequency signal in your Cessna (or whatever) and by doing so, you can remotely switch-on the landing lights at that airport... Cheers, Peter

I lived in Syd for 20 years and will drive to Taree to buy Bunda Sarsaparilla, once a month. Then, they only deliver to Coles. Cheers
