FYI.... The "bloke" that wrote up the inexpensive fix for the headlights is a dealer tech.... Due to the respectful nature of this particular forum, it is frequented often by certified Jaguar techs that are also working and earning a living. And, as we all know, generalizations are not always correct and are absolutely unfair.

**FYI I was not referring to the Techs as *******s, I was referring to the Dealership charges. I respect the handwork what the Techs do for us; theres no doubt about it, its the dealership charges that screw ppl up!

Because I've found that engine's fuel-efficiency is poor during warmup, this winter coming I'll try 0W30 to see if it's any better. Mine is the 2.7D and it takes a long time to warmup -- but then it would -- much less of the heat produced is wasted in the coolant. My tests years ago with full-synthetic oil indicated a worsening of fuel efficiency at all temps. over mineral oil, but there's no doubt the longevity of full-synth, partic when there's a turbocharger with very hot bearings doing a lot of rpm., in which case at least a mix of mineral/synth is obligatory.
I tried a dose of molybdenum disulphide/graphite additive for the cold efficiency problem. It did not appear to make a scrap of difference, but to be fair, no full scientific methods were used.
I don't think there's much advantage in using fancy engine oils, unless you're talking racing revs., up to 12,000. To save your engine wear, warmup asap without high revs. 85% or so of engine wear happens during the warmup -- full scientific approval. Prewarmers for places like Canada make an awful lot of sense, if only to get the heater working sooner!

and bought the orange coolant my son out it in everything is find now the yellow engine light is on I am going to get a oil change an have all the fluid check any suggestion????? Thanks guys ! You know when the pplaces see women coming how they act.

 

Read the codes. If in USA various places do it free, if not then get a cheap OBD tool - see General Tech forum for ones that others have tried. Elm327 is good.

 

Read the back of the coolant jug to see if meets Jag specifications. Many of them don't. Colour is not a good indicator of compatibility.

Mobil 1 synthetic for me in all my cars over the past 12 years! Lucky for me being a auto technician I get it for free! All I pay for is an oil filter! So I usually change it every 3k! Hey why not! It's good for the cars and only costs me a few bucks! If anything, I prolly over maintain my vehicles!
