Default When to replace Akebono brake pads?

There is this thread out there already and that's same MY and model car as mine.
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ke-job-167137/

Last year I checked about this time and it seems that my pads are still at about 40 - 45% of the original thickness. I don't drive the car in the winter I put them on at about 14-15K miles and I have 62K miles now.

Rotors are smooth like new with a bit of lip of course and not near min thickness.

At what percentage of pad left do folks think these pads should be replaced?

Rears are about 5% more worn than the fronts.

I'm flushing the fluid today.

Thanks.

Workshop manual (free download) has details - you measure their thickness...

I wanted brand specific advice from someone who's used these pads about what to expect.

Given how much material you've got left and the amount you drive, it sounds like you've got years still to go.

There's nothing to gain by replacing pads early- performance does not decline through usage. The trick is not letting them get too thin and destroying a rotor. No one can guess when that exact moment will be as it varies from driver to driver.

Took my Akebono's down to about 4mm before replacing with no noticeable difference in braking performance, superb pads and no dust !!

I'll try and measure them but getting a set of calipers inside of a caliper () with the shoes in place might be tough. Eyeball guess is 7-8 mm.

Usual figure is if they're under 3mm when you check then replace them.

At anything like 7-8mm they're fine for a year at least (for ordinary drivers not doing stellar distances) - and I'm sure you check them more often than that.

Generally makes no odds who made them.

Easier and quicker to take a pad out and measure (imho) easiest pads i've ever changed.

Don't know as mine have over 80K on them and are still good!
Hard to believe as I use the brakes hard. Plus I run slotted rotors which are suppose to shear more pad off than smooth rotors.

Very pleased with AkeBono pads.
