Default Where is Cylinder 8

I have the manual on PDF but I'm having a dog of a time finding where cylinder 8 is in any of the diagrams. Coming home from lunch today the car went into restricted mode but still drove home. I put the code reader on it and It shows a misfire on cylinder 8.. I was going to pull the plug to give it a look but I would be just guessing as to which one is number 8 on the 4.2 2004 jag non super charged .

OK, thanks, I got the coil pack boot off but that plug is way down in there... what size socket fits down over that plug head ? Do you think I could just try trowing a new coil pack at it to see if that will fix it or should I work at getting the plug out ? My 5/8ths plug socket don't seem to fit. the code I got was P0308 and it was the first cold day we have had here in the south.

I had the same issue on a different cylinder. Replaced the coil and all was good. Your plug looks fine. One thing though a misfire can also be fuel related but the usual is the coil for a single code. The coils fail when they want to no rhyme or reason. I ended up replacing all 8 with plugs because i did not know their age from the previous owner

Little bit of an update... My son was in a little bit of a twist because the car wasn't working and he had some places he needed to be so I ran down to NAPA and grabbed a coil pack . I figured that the one that arrives from Rock auto can be a spar back up. Anyway long story short, I throw the new one in and button it all in with zero issue... Start the car up and the rough idle is gone so I pull it out of the garage and the restricted performance light is not coming up... Step on the gas and all the power is there. The car is now running at 100%... I run it up to the store and it don't miss a beat. I run it down the 20 for several miles and no restricted performance light. The car is acting 100% normal. Here is the question..... Does it take a while for the check engine light to go off ? The car is running gre

It takes at least two drive cycles for the MIL to turn off.

As a point to note: under no circumstances is the vehicle to be operated under conditions that cause the MIL to flash as catalyst damage is occurring.

It may be after 3, i.e. on the 4th warm up.

You can speed it up by clearing the codes BUT if that is done then also all the OBD monitors are cleared. These are used for so-called smog testing so then the car would be a fail until they set again (some say reset but they mean re-set, think about it). Sometimes that takes AGES so the original action of clearing the codes can be unwise.
