Question Whining noise

Hey guys, I've noticed a whining noise (sounds like power steering) when the car is cold. Proportionally loud to how high the engine is revving. After driving around for 20 mins or so, the noise is almost completely gone. But if the car is warm and you floor it, you can still hear the whine slightly (kinda like a supercharger whine, but my V6 isn't supercharged )
I checked the PS fluid and it's fine.
Car is still easy to turn, power steering works just fine. The noise is pretty loud though.
Any help?

My suggestion in these cases is always back to basics.

Change the power steer fluid. Simply syringe the container and refill, run the engine, turning lock to lock a few times. Shut it down, syringe it again, and refill with more new fluid, repeat the lock to lock, and do it again.
This has shut up many for me over the years.

The serpentine belt may be past its use by date, and noisy from age more than slippage. Had a few of them.

Obviously many other items could be the gremlin, but as I said, I always start with the basics, and usually cheapest items first.

Power steering fluid never has to be changed, unless I'm mistaken...

I think you are.

Most people get away with not changing it, but that's not the same thing.

Agreed.

ALL, repeat, ALL oils/fluids wear out and/or become contaminated.

OK, the sealed transmission fiasco is a classic. YES the trans will last the "life of the car", which is deemed to be ABOUT 7 years by most manufacturers/industry persons.

Power steer fluid usually gets changed due a hose bursting, or some other sinister event, and obviously new is used to refill, but little notice is taken of the "old fluid", which is generally black and watery, and waaaay past its use by date.

Same goes for brake fluid. Every 2 years is the recommended, which is generally written on the label of the bottle.
