Who can run a car fax. Found my car was salvaged
Yupper, right on the registration from the previous owner, it says it was salvaged. Who can run me a car fax so i can find out what may have happened?
No wonder it was free!I still cant find major repair traces.

So for all those wondering.
Turns out my car was salvaged at the first dealer once the car was delivered. It was a corporate car first. then looks like it was used by the dealership r someone in it. It failed emissions at an early date. Could be that it was salvaged for the lean condition and they couldnt fix it but I dont know for sure.

Almost 70,000 miles before it failed it's first emissions test. I doubt that was the reason for the salvage title.
The smoking gun is the salvage title at 1200 miles.
Remember- Carfax can only post what they see. Tracking any events was in it's infancy back then. I.E. We all know it would have had SOME kind of maintenance along the way. Nothing shows up here.
I'll see if a Jag Dealer I deal with can shed more light on this.
Mark.

I dont know what happened but if you can find out, the history would be great to know.
Trying to get a mods attention on the Vin.
I can see some repair work done to the hood. and its missing the covers for the oil coolers and the undertray belly pan. But all the welds look factory. The bumper under the bumper cover has been replaced as the bolts were loose and there was red overspray in the center of the square tubing so it looks like its from another car.
But no twisted netal except a small indentation on the radiator support top piece in one small place.

They can only post what they see....or what's reported to them.
As far as I know there's no obligation or agreement for all Jag dealers (and certainly not independents) to report to Carfax.
Carfax obviously gets a lot of info from state agencies and insurance companies but all sorts of repairs and servicing can take place at dealers or shops without being reported to them.
Cheers
