Question Whoop sound when I "punch" the throttle

Help, when I punch the gas to quickly change lanes or pass another car, I hear a "whoop" sound for a breif second but it does not appear to effect the performance of the transmission, engine or rear end. Does anyone know what this is and how it can be fixed?????

THAT'S THE SOUND OF RAW POWER! RRRRRRRRRRRRR

It sounds like your throttle plate is going to 100%(normal) and you are hearing the pulsations in the intake manifold. Did you change types of air cleaners or remove something like noise insulation.

We heard this all the time on the Muscle Cars of the 60's into the start of the 70's when all 4, 6 or 8 barrels in the carb(s) were wide open.

Or dad's Buick or Pickup truck if you flipped the lid on the air cleaner so it could draw from all the way around instead of just through the snorkel!

and yes, John(V8), I'm sure the bureaucratic authorities of the time took a dim view of such activity, should they become aware of it but that's how we used to roll ...back when America was free and individual liberty was respected.

Mine have always done that. The convertible does it the most, i almost never hear it on my '07. Its pretty annoying when you are trying to blow past a truck and the trans lags for a full second..

Mine does the same thing as it downshifts. There's a TSB to cover it. Lemme look. Don't go away.

I can't figure out why the authorities would care! Why would they?

Thanks Mikey! I am going to go with the jag mechanic suggestion first before I try your solution since it is the easier of the two. He believes it is "P/Strg additive, transmission sqwuak, which requires addition of a friction modifier additive in the transmission. I'll let you know if it works.

I'm familiar with the steering wheel squeak and followed the TSB to fix that specific fault, but have not heard about the same fluid addressing the fault you've described from the transmission.

Is your mechanic misunderstanding your description maybe?

Mikey - looks like it's TSB JTB00070 (discussed here before). Friction modifier C2C 37157

I think you're right but the two additives are NOT the same AFAIK!

Oh I see. I expect they're different but don't know what either of them actually is (chemically).
