Default wobble or shake in the beginning then stops

Hi all,

Well you all know I replaced the tie rods and this is not been happening just after the replacement, happened before, but also have new tires now and still doing it. When first taking the car out in the morning after sitting overnight, warm it up and then when go to drive it for the first few miles it wobbles or seems like the tires are out of balance or something. Then after driving it about two or three miles, everything stops and seems fine, rides like a dream. Obviously not right but weird that after a few miles it stops. Any thoughts. bushings, etc...? Got all these tools now so want to replace something, what should it be?

Thanks

Some tires have a tendency to flat-spot after sitting overnight, especially in cold weather. Tires that are prone to this typically warm up and round out after 2 to 4 miles of driving. Sounds to me that you are describing a flat-spot issue. Not a big deal, you simply have to get used to it. What brand and model tires did you purchase?

Flat spots can also be caused by low tire pressures which will go away after a few miles as Jon89 stated.

Bridgestone's. Bought them because the set I had for the last 35 thousand were the same and the car had a great ride. So thought why switch. Glad to hear that probably is the case. Thank you.

I have a set of Nitto tires on my Tundra that act the same way. Truck sits out on the driveway all evening and when I drive it in the morning for the first few miles I get a slight shimmy and shake that comes up through the steering wheel. It's a minor thing, but like you, it really does get under my skin. Seems like an expensive late model vehicle with costly tires shouldn't suffer from that kind of low-tech problem, right?

My Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Positions do the same thing only if the car is parked outside in the cold for a few hours. In my case it usually goes away in less than a mile. It must be the cold weather; when my car is in the garage over night, its fine in the morning.

Mine has the same tire on the front and does the same thing. I'm slowly sorting out all of the issues on my str. I need to spin the front wheels on a balancer as well but I think that the tires are a big contributing factor.

If you really want to experience flat spotting of tires drive a modern bmw with runflats. They are terrible. On a cold morning the car feels like the wheels are square. Plus they are noisy and harsh.

Take care.

George
