Hey, does anyone know if 18" XF wheels would be a direct replacement for the 18" Vulcans on my '08 S-Type?

My wheels my need replacing and I would like to stick with factory wheels and reconditioned XF wheels are MUCH easier to locate than are Vulcans.

Oh, the XF wheel I've found is described as:

6 Spoke 18x8.5 inch, 5x108 bolt pattern (49mm Offset), One Piece Alloy Factory, OEM Wheel

Might need spacers. S-Type offset is 40 to 45 mm typically.

 

The 18" BBS Monaco's I have on my S-Type are ET60, 8" wide.

AFAIK all the S-Type wheels are ET60....?

If you have a lower offset (e.g. 49mm compared to 60mm) the wheel is pushed out 11mm, so a spacer is the wrong direction.

Going to 8.5" wide already puts the outer edge of the rim 5-6mm further out than the 8", and then the offset difference, so you have push the outer edge of the rim maybe 17mm further out.

Stanced! No spacers needed, just have to be careful that they don't rub on the wheel arch.

But in saying that, i've seen a number of S-Types running XJ or XF wheels (they are all ET49) without any major issues, just be sure so match the rolling circumference of the tyre to the original size.

Apart from that, if in UK be SURE to tell insurer. They may well not care but must be told.

Ah yes, just got a clue, my wheels are 18x8 and XF wheels are 18x8.5.

Too much uncertainty with increasing the width, will have to keep looking for 18x8 wheels.

Might need the opposite of spacers. Oh, there's no such thing is there?
