Default Yet another central locking issue and deadlocking question

hello everybody

my car seems to have a very common issue (there are many threads about it on the forum).
Randomly, when i want to lock the car by using my fob, the car locks and immediatly unlocks.
when this problem occurs, the only working solution is to manually lock the car with the key into the driver door.

sometimes i have the same problem with autolock (when i drive the car it locks automatically), the car wants to lock but unlocks. So i have to mannually press the central lock button on my driver's door.

i did some research on the forum and it appears the problem is often caused by a faulty door latch. But i don't understand very well how can we be sure the problem is located in driver's door or passenger's door etc ?

second question: i took a look at JEPC and there is a difference between "deadlocking" fitted cars and "without deadlocking" cars, what does that mean ? how can i know if my car is fitted with ?

thx you very much

Centrally lock the doors from inside the vehicle. Watch the chrome lock buttons, the one that doesn't work correctly is the problem actuator. As you mentioned there are quite a few threads about this. In the "How To guides" there are detailed write ups on replacing either the front or rear actuators with real time pictures.

Deadlocks are in the European models, the North American models do not have the deadbolt locking system IIRC.

thx for your answer

i ve just done what you said in the last post and i ve found out my driver door lock button does not move when i lock from passenger side !

so i think i ll have to change my left front actuator (= door latch isn't it ?)

but i don't understand why the lock button correctly work when i use the key or when i press on it and not when i use the fob...

about deadlocks, you mean that all european cars are fitted with ? mine is french and i ve just read in the handbook manual something about "double lock" (french translation) which prevent from opening car from outside (sure !) and inside too. The process is to press 2 times (within 3 seconds) on lock button on the fob in order to activate it. Is it what you call "deadlock" ?

i looked at the price on JEPC and jaguar sells the actuator 500 euros ! fortunately i can easily find less expensive on the web...

Yes, deadlock (aka double lock because of the 2 presses). Try it - but have the fob with you

You might be better off looking into the UK Jaguar Forums I hate to say.
