Default zf6hp26 metal sump pan

Hi has any one heard of a metal sump pan for the zf6hp26 was told by a transmission shop that they could get a metal zf sump pan to replace the plastic one. But seems unheard of in the uk any one know about them on this forum

I think BMW uses them but I'm not sure if it's exactly the same.

yep I'm using one . it is for the ford territory and falcon . got it from ebay.au

watch out for the range rover steel pan , it is a different shape due to the transfer case and front drive shaft .

Just wondering why you want to do that? Have you lost the belly pan that protects the plastic cover?

And what is it to protect from? (Nothing should be hitting there so hard that it matters!)

Guys, if we've learned nothing else during our ownership of these cars, we know that metal components are always preferable to plastic components....

Not true. They are heavier, cost more, do not flex (which is often required) and so on.

I'll still take a metal pan over a plastic pan any freaking day of the week....

In that specific case, as you wish of course, but you made a very general statement that I heartily advise against.

I was enquireing about having the zf sleeve being replaced as it is leaking so one of the garages I spoke to said it was best to fit a metal sump pan instead of the plastic one I have never heard of a metal sunp pan for zf trannie hence the post
