Personally, I think 2003 and 2004 is the "sweet spot." My 2003 has been pretty much trouble-free, except for the well known short list of small, easily (mostly) repaired issues that plague all XK8s. I hope you live in a state that will allow you to remove that front-plate-mounting bracket. It does nothing for the otherwise killer classic front end.

I just notices the other day that my local craigslist has all 97-2002 XK's on it. It is as if folks with 03 or newer keep them because they are holding up better???

Hey coach, did you end up buying this car? Crazy coincidence that I saw this here - I was casually looking at this car as well. Spoke with Thomas about it a couple of weeks ago. (I'm up in Kelowna.)

hi All,
We bought this XKR...
from what we have found on this site its pretty rare car.
We got a good deal on it and it needs
some tiddling... But what jag doesnt
Needed new brakes and bussings in front & getting done this week, took the shifter burl out and sent to get re finished at madera concepts, spent a couple of hours cleaning the super charger yeterday and it came up nice.. Still more to go....to get show ready

Congrats! I'm originally from Victoria myself. I'm sure it will have a good home with you.
