I was reading the May issue of Car and Driver and they say the supercharged V8 version of the XE SVR is their 7th most anticipated car of the 25 they listed. They believe it will be a 2017 arrival. Let's hope they are right.

Would be good to see the V8 in both XE and XF and F-Pace to tell you the truth... even if it is the 485hp tune?!?
I wonder whether Jag would do the 280KW SC 6 as the R first, or maybe tweak it to 300KW, before going to an SVR. There has to be a reason that they are using the lower tune 6 at the moment. I think 300KW would be oodles in the XE.
That would make it a competitor with anything in its price range for sure.
That would give it a slight edge over the current BMW M3/4 and make it roughly equivalent to the MB 2016 C-Class AMG version, the C63-S w/ 503 HP. BMW will, no doubt, catch up on the M3/4s before we ever see an XE SVR with that kind of power, and both BMW and MB will do whatever it takes retain bragging rights. This class is far too important to them.

I talked to my dealer in Florida yesterday to confirm that my order has started production, (it has), with a still estimated delivery of 5/25. I mentioned the Car and Driver article about the V8 being put in the XE. He stated in meetings that they've had with corporate was that a 380hp option will be available before the V8 gets here. I've then asked if Jaguar would do a retune to my engine, and he said unfortunately no, it would void the warranty. . His next statement was there would be plenty of aftermarket tuners that will be happy to.
Interesting article in the February Road and track, First Drive: "Return of the King". It stated that the real 3 series killer was BMW's quest for sales growth, which demanded a sport sedan that didn't offend anyone. BMW is trying to catch back up in the handling Department with their 340i. They put in a more rigidly mounted front suspension, retuned electric power steering, revised rear dampers, a $1,700 track handling package, 320hp with 330lb-ft of torque. I guess the XE is putting some pressure on BMW after being asleep at the wheel.
now that the XE has been facelifted with the latest 10.2" infotainment screen an d f-type centre dial screen (my 2 biggest peeves with XE), i've started looking at one as alternative to f-pace
but before i order a V6 S, i've been looking online for any info of an R spec in development and couldn't find anything
last thing i want to do is buy a V6 S, and have it obsolete as range topper by time it arrives (need a solid 6 months here in aus before the facelift lands)
are there any pics of test mules for this rumoured R and SVR???
