After some e-mails back and forth to Jaguar Heritage, I now have the answer. It seems that its the correct fob for the Jaguar aftermarket alarm kit that I have fitted. Which is good news, as it should mean I can take it out easily!! Anyone have the fitting instructions for the kit?

Hi Richard,

The DAC7990 transmitter was part of a retrofit alarm system - Part No.JLM1768, which was fitted after the vehicle left the factory.

I have the instruction manual and installation booklet for that alarm system.

Where did you get the fob from. I can only find the 433 MHZ ones not the 418 for the "92 MY. How much ?
As you discovered the circuit board is identical to change the frequency if you are handy with soldering iron you can change component that generates the frequency it's a saw (surface acoustic wave oscillator)

See attached PDF document one is 433Mhz other is 418Mhz

Didn't you get my emails with the instruction and fitting leaflet .?? Sent to you two days ago Richard.

Why would you want to take it out. I just love the remote locking doors.

Related question - is there any way to replace the battery for the flashlight in the pre-transponder keys? I can't seem to find an illustration anywhere and just pushing on it doesn't suggest a clean way to disassemble the head.

On the side opposite the button, there should be a little rectangle with the words Jaguar. Push that in and pull the unit apart.
