Default Engine rpm

Series2 1974 engine, compression on the cylinders ranges from 130 - 155.
at present engine doesn't rev up beyond 1500 RPM tending more on the 1200 RPM side and pushing accelerator further brings on straining noise but no increase on the dial. Any thoughts?

Oh boy, long list.

Lack of fuel.
Carby pistons stuck in the bellchambers, VERY COMMON.
Carbies out of sync.
One carby only working.
Timing miles out.
Stale fuel.

I will stop at that for now, so check them first and see what happens.

got fresh fuel, plenty of it, timing was sort only two months ago and seemed good.
those three Carby issues, given a little flooding on right one due to the floatie buoy thing in the fuel cup being jammed recently, sound like a maybe
certainly i don't think any sync' has been performed since I got the engine and think both are working but could not say that they are for certain. might look at those points first.
