Default Things You'd Want on a New XK/XKR Series

If Jaguar was to bring back a new XK/XKR in the future, what are some of the things you would want added to the new model? I've made a list of 12, but I'm sure many of you have others. Let's help Jaguar design a new replacment.
1) Folding rear seat with all the electronics relocated. This is one of the things I dislike the most about the current model, and there is no good reason for not doing this.
2) Rear seat delete option
3) Automatic opening and closing of the hatch (on the coupe) from the key fob. The F-type has this available as does any cheap SUV from any company. It should always have been available on the flagship model.
4) Preset buttons for the radio, separate from the NAV screen and the ability to turn off the HVAC system from a single button. I despise not having buttons that I can feel with my fingers rather than having to take my eyes off the road for such functions.
5) GAUGES!!!!!! Temperature, oil pressure, voltage at the very least.
6) A DIPSTICK!
7) A Sunroof (for the coupe) that slides on the outside, if necessary, (like Audi S5) or a hardtop convertible option if the aesthetic can be accomplished.
8) Configurable suspension settings
9) More luxurious, interesting interior
10) More horsepower
11) More aggressive exhaust a la Aston Martin or Maserati or F-type with the same engine.
12) 8 speed tranny like the newer Jag models (a given)

What say you?

apost8n8,
This bugs me to no end. You can turn it on but not off from the buttons below the nav screen. I guess you have to go backwards in time to the X100 to get these features. When I drive my 2002XKR, it is such a pleasure to have simple buttons and dials to control sound and HVAC functions. Progress?!

I think CeeJay absolutely NAILED it... that is God's gift that is totally unavailable sadly.

In no order for realistic upgrades:
I'll plead blasphemy but perhaps a v6 twin turbo 575hp/575ft lbs direct injection engine that actually gets great mpg. Wouldn't be opposed to a hybrid design that significantly boosted low end to increase bottom end torque

Updated info-tainment system with an excellent dashcam intergated

8-9 speed tranny made by ZF

all LED lighting including interior lighting and headlights

Lose weight! With carbon fiber and aluminum they could easily shed a lot of weight

As said auto-lifting trunk from key fob

one touch conv top

better designed complete car electronics which would better manage everything electronic and use FAR less battery power to do so, our cars are archaic in that regard, there's absolutely no need for all the computers we currently have

heated/cooled massage seats

As a safety factor front, rear, side/side collision avoidance warning which most is federally mandated now.

A dashboard that doesn't lift would be cool too!

How about google maps in the navigation system. Every cheap smart phone has it, how about the cars.

I have a coupe and would love the rear windows to go down. That would give it a very slick look when all the windows are open.

Modified:

1) Folding rear seat with all the electronics relocated. This is one of the things I dislike the most about the current model, and there is no good reason for not doing this.
2) Rear seat delete option
3) OPTIONAL(because weight)-Automatic opening and closing of the hatch (on the coupe) from the key fob.
Temperature, oil pressure, voltage BOOST at the very least.
6) A DIPSTICK! FOR BOTH THE ENGINE AND TRANS
7) An optional Sunroof (for the coupe) that slides on the outside, if necessary, (like Audi S5) or a hardtop convertible option if the aesthetic can be accomplished.
8) Configurable suspension settings
9) More luxurious, interesting interior
10) More horsepower
11) More aggressive exhaust a la Aston Martin or Maserati or F-type with the same engine.
12) 8 speed tranny like the newer Jag models (a given) OR a real dual-clutch auto

My 2 cents...

13) Streaming blue tooth audio/improved audio/phone system
14) Solar panel battery maintainer
15) shorten CONVENIENCE MODE time or make it user configured (30 minutes is stupid and kills the battery)
16) Make TPMS optional if you have a spare tire.
17) Replace the duck bill with a hose (like, oh, every other car ever built)
18) 10 year/100,000 mile warranty so the value doesn't plummet.
19) Garmin navigation/live traffic with free (maybe wireless) updates like my $189 dollar Walmart special.

#1 focus - high reliability and long time/distance between service windows.

#2 Improved dash interface.

#3 Better fitting steering wheel and shift controls.

#4 Lower current draw when sitting.

#5 Optional tighter/smaller seats for the slimmer crowd.

its a nice list.. but chances of Jaguar making a new (convertible) Tourer are slim.. the F type is the new sporty car, the F Pace a whole new range of sporty SUV.. the competition is not doing anything either.. (BMW, Merc) on the tourer platform and Aston Martin is a bridge too far.. and also does not actively promote the Grand Tourer anymore.. (in convertible style)

for the coupe's.. they seem to be in better company with BMW, but mostly the new SUV-ish platform from Jaguar, the new Range Rovers and BMW, Volvo (XC90 Hybrid), etc..

so convertible now-a-days need to be sporty, small and with very hard suspensions.. they compete with Porsche, the Aston Vantage or even BMW's Z4 if you dont have any taste left after searching for weeks/months at every dealer..

I had to leave my '07 baby behind in my home country when moving again.. and looking for a new (has to be convertible) ride now.. but BMW 6 series.. Mwoua.. the roof still looks ugly and the ride is no where near the XK.. the Merc? perhaps when I'm 65 years old and need transportation for my grand kids.. The Aston.. yeah.. when I'm able to cough up 10.000USD per service easily, I'll think about it..

So back to the XK it is...
