Outrageous pricing in Oz
Just doing my weekly browsing of xk/xkrs and aston vantage and couldn't but help to think how expensive these cars are in Australia
This blue xk with relatively high mileage is currently the cheapest xk for sale in Australia

Daaayummmm, that's about double for what they go in the States. $51,200 USD. They are all over the place for $25,000 USD or even much less. Plus you guys have a Luxury tax on top of that, right?
The luxury tax is included in the pricing. But it is the reason that cars over the luxury tax band are priced so high plus GST is added on top of the tax
In Australia it's very easy to get a beer

They sell for less in the Americas because someone made a mistake and put the steering wheel on the wrong side.
For the prices in OZ you could likely fly over, have a holiday, buy a car and ship it back for less. I imagine there's another tax for that too however!

Any car you import into Oz would attract tax at the rate of the value that the Car would sell for in the State you import it into, plus you must prove you have owned and driven it for a year. Not practical at all.
I owned an XKR in the UK in 2009 and gave up on the idea

I did as I missed the other one so much and I basically paid the same for a six year old car as I did for a two year old with only 8k Klm's

I imported my XJR through the Personal Import Scheme when we moved back to Oz, I paid the import duty, GST and stamp duty based on the invoice price from when I bought the car in London.
The PIS is the only way to bring in a Jag that was built after 1991, the other schemes are blocked because the cars were sold here locally through the official importers.
When I traded mine (2010 build, 60,000kms) I still got $70K odd and a fair bit knocked off sticker on the f type. But then the f type had a $200K sticker.
But woeful car prices aside, Oz is a great place to live. Aside from everything trying to kill you, that is http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pu.../australia.jpg
