Default Black side sills

Anyone with the 14-15 or the 16 side sills painted in black (not on a black car) have photos they can share? I want to see how it looks before I jump the gun. I am aware the 16 sills are different just haven't made up my mind on which year sills to get.

No to the '16+ sideskirts....they make the car look ridiculously chunky.

I know what you mean. That's what pulls me away from the 16 sills. But they do give the car a bit more of an aggressive look compared to the 15 since the 15s are not as wide.

No to any of the sideskirts. They detract from the clean beautiful lines of the car and serve no significant aerodynamic purpose at any speed.

Here's a few showing our first V8S with black, and the current V8R with standard factory and after the black treatment has been done:

V8S with standard black side skirts

V8R Standard with colour coded skirts

V8R with black covered skirts

They are a bit small, thanks to my crappy software, but hopefully you get the picture ;-)

My new R AWD (April 2016) came with narrow black side sills and black diffusor.
Was pleasantly surprised.

They were obviously clearing out the old parts bin (to your advantage).

I am not pleased with the wide skirts on my 16, but I do like them better in body color than I would in black, even though my car has the black pack. The whole thing is a non-issue for me, though.

Default for questions like this....

It makes a ton of sense to learn some photoshop basics through You tube.

It would take 5 minutes to black out your skirts on your own car and swap back and forth to see which you liked better.

I have a white 15 coupe with black carbon wrapped skirts if you want to see what that looks like.

Carbon wrap on the skirts is a perfect solution, It's as permanent as you want it to be and you can find wrap to match anything you want nowadays, flat black, gloss, or the many CF patterns and colors you will ever see. I think the skirts were like $80 a pair.

Very happy.

To the OP, I'm not sure if you read the posts in the other thread (240Z) but I have the '16 skirts on mine. The issue with them is that they are very wide where your feet go to get out of the car, so your centre of gravity is a little off and it makes it harder to get out. The other issue (aside from aesthetics) is that because they are horizontal, dust sits on them then if you get a bit of a shower that turns to muddy water which doesnt run off, then it dries and it looks crappy.

Personally I'd rather the narrower skirts. My missus has narrow ones on her XE R Sport, I wrapped them in black and they are fine, though they angle down.

The car does look good with them on though at the expense of its beautiful waistline, unfortunately the bulgyey shape puts me in mind of a goanna http://www.smh.com.au/content/dam/im...5758228383.jpg. I suspect I am the only person who thinks that way because I have had nothing but compliments about the car - well more than that, people filming it when I'm driving is pretty frequent - so maybe it is just that I always preferred the trimming effect of the black skirt.
