Default 2004 XJ8 trunk jaguar emblem

Is it difficult to remove the trunk molding that is thin and wide and says JAGUAR? Thank you!

I heated mine with a heat gun, and then slowly worked fishing line under it. came right off . a hair dryer would also work I'm sure it melts the glue.

Like Ken, I use fishing line, wire or strong string like a cheese cutter. There is no need to heat up the emblem because it is attached with foam-core double-sided tape and the fishing line will just cut through the foam. To clean off the remaining tape residue a little heat from a hair dryer can be helpful, along with a plastic scraper and a solvent like Goof Off, Degreasing solvent, Naptha or Mineral Spirits. I don't trust myself with a heat gun around fine painted surfaces since you can damage or remove the paint if you're not careful.

Cheers,

Don

I think you are talking about the molding right under the trunk's rounded edge, which incorporates the trunk release button, no? Or do you mean the badge which is stuck on with double-sided tape?

Hi jdunn,

Sorry for our confusion. If you are describing Part 1 in the diagram below, it appears that it is attached with hex nuts (Part 10) from inside the trunk, so you should be able to pull away the interior trim to find the nuts:

Cheers,

Don

While we're on it, how does one remove part #6 (7)?
