Default Looking for Jaguar Warranty Service History

Hell

I just purchase a 1998 Jaguar XJR with only 53,000 miles and was trying to find what Jaguar did while it was under warranty. I was wanting to know if Jaguar replace the engine or changed out the Timing chain Tensioners while under warranty. Can anyone help me on this issue? The Vin is SAJPX1845WC815603.

The car came from Jim Burke Jaguar but I knew it has warranty work done at Apline Jaguar in Boca Raton Florida, I did call there and they said it had service work there in 2005 but he could not tell me much.

Thanks in Advance..

Mitch

Normally the dealer has access to the warranty history no matter which dealer did the work. They can get into the corporate data bank for that sort of thing. You might try another dealer.

However, it might be that after xxx-years the history is scrubbed, or perhaps dumped to a different data bank, or some such

Cheers
DD

The warranty would have expired in 2001. That's 15 years ago, lots of work could have been done by a dealer, independent or DIY in the interim. If you're worried about the tensioners, open the engine to see for sure.

Welcome to the forum Mitch,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Jaguar didn't replace tensioners under warranty in the UK and I don't expect the US was any different. As has already been stated, any Jaguar Dealer can check the service and warranty work carried out on any Jaguar anywhere in the World but only that done by a Jaguar Dealer. Anything done by a non franchised dealer or independent will not be recorded.

Follow this link XJ XJ8 / XJR ( X308 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thank you guys.. Well I did go to Hennessy Jaguar here in Atlanta yesterday to see if I could get the info on the Warranty work that was done to my 98 XJR with only 53,000 miles and they were very helpful. Jim in the service department took time to look up my VIN and he got the entire list of what was done from new until the last warranty work that was done in 2005. Sensor here and there but nothing drastic. He would not allow me to take the info out until he put it in a format that gave me only the ::Claim Field Service Action" codes and the dates of service. I guess you would need to be a Jaguar Service man to know what these codes mean.. I will try to snap a pic of the info..
