During our hunt for the XJR, we'd stumbled across this too -- a Jaguar Concept 8
A quick Google search leads to pages on prototype vehicles and I couldn't find any
production numbers for the Concept 8 right away. I didn't do this in-depth (yet).
Sadly, no interior shots and only two exterior. I might actually have to go look at
it just for the sake of having seen it.
Is it special?
For the record, I'm in no way affiliated with this car
It's equivalent to the Super V8 Portfolio 2006.
It was branded as Concept 8 in some countries, such as Switzerland I believe.
Not so many of them around so if you are interested, it's worth having a look to that one.
It looks pretty neat. A few extra features, most I wouldn't use as I'd be in the driver's seat. I do like the larger sunroof, though if something broke parts may be hard to find. Not so sure about the purple color, though. It seems more like a collector item or owning for bragging rights than a daily driver.
The body code 86 in the VIN indicates that it's a long wheelbase version of a 2005 X350.
Not rare or special at all, standard production.
It is a rare car, a Portfolio/Concept 8 edition were only made in small numbers. Hopefully Cambo will be along to to give us the details.
The colour is called Black Cherry, 95% of the time black, but gives of a lovely red flake when the sun hits it. My car was resprayed Black Cherry by the previous owner.
They are very rare, as mentioned above the Black Cherry colour in the sunlight is awesome.
The front wings ( fenders ) are very special, if you prang one I believe you are looking maybe $1500 I think.
It's a pretty beast in any case! I shall look at it when I've replaced the bloody
coolant reservoir on mine (the notorious nipple failure) and maybe post a few interior shots.
It is listed as a four seater so it should have the centre console in the back
à la Daimler Super Eight, right?
That is the price in Europe, more expensive to fetch than in the US.
The few I saw in the past couple of years with low mileage were in the 30k-40k Euro range
There was one of these Concept Eight's for sale in Geneva a few years back when i was still living in Switzerland, I was very tempted to buy it... I seem to recall they were asking 45'000 Sfr for it back then? It was at a Ferrari dealership there...

The dealer bought the car as part of a trade-in, previous owner (from the Geneva-area)
bought an RS-4. The car has been at the dealer for some two months with no interest.
In fact, I seem to have been the first person ringing about it and I'm not even in the market.
I let the dealer know I'm not a buyer right away, they were happy to show me this gorgeous
thing anyway.
As promised, I've taken a interior photos. The exterior is as beautifully preserved as the
dealer photos show it, just that it was wet and generally nasty outside today so I skipped
on taking more myself. Particularly the wood caught my attention, it's a finish I've not
previously seen in any Jaguar and I like it!
Enjoy
P.S: I'm sure the dealer would be ready to negotiate at this point!
Is the rear center console permanent VS fold down? Are concept8/portfolios the only models with the extra rear cup holders?
I've never grasped the mat finish wood concept except that it is "different" rather like the slightly inset instrument gauges in the 80s high end models.
BTW, I once accidentlly got some red overspray on my wife's black Jeep Cherokee and she didn't buy the "Black Cherry" explanation. Wasn't that also the color of the last 100 XJ12 models?
On that C8 or SV8 model, the rear console is permanent.
Same permanent console was also available as an option on other SV8's, and Daimler Super 8's (X358) that followed, I believe.
