I have a 2007 Estate. According to the X-Type brochure, both the sedan 3.0 and the Estate came with DSC with Traction Control (TC) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) as standard equipment. I suspect it was standard for 2006 as well, but perhaps not beforehand?

I have all the brochures for the US and Canadian-market X-Types in front of me. Up to and including 2006 the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) and EBA were optional. For 2007 and beyond, these were a standard feature on all X-Types for these two markets.
My 2005 Sportwagon does not have the DSC despite having most other options.
The EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), associated with the antilock brake system, was standard on every X-Type including the wagon in all years.
EBA (Emergency Brake Assist - not sure how this differs from the EBD) was an optional feature associated with the DSC.
In 2007 model year, ALL of the above was made standard equipment for both markets.
A bit confusing....
The Wagon generally was fitted with more standard features, most of them conforming to the 3 litre sedan equipment. The Canadian cars had further standard equipment and options such as the Cold Climate Package (heated windshield, seats and headlamp powerwash) not available in the US as a package unit.

 

That's really interesting. Thanks for sharing. My 2006 has the heated seats but not the rest of the Cold Climate Package. I haven't seen any other 2006 with the DSC mostly just the 'coin slots' where the DSC button should be. I didn't realize that it became standard in the 2007 but then again, those seem to be rare to find in the US.

There is a beautiful all-black 2007 here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, but the owner says it came from Ontario.

I thought it was a 2008 when I first saw it, but he had replaced to grill and surround with the facelift parts after I bird strike(!).

 

Mine is a black 2006 with DSC. 80K miles. The car has become my winter car. Studded tires, and it handles great. The wagon is great for putting in skis and other long items. It does have it quirks: Mid range speakers are blown, Metal in molding around the back windows is rotting and swelling the plastic. (known problem.) Takes a lot longer to heat up and defrost the front windshield than all my other cars. The ABS appears to have a problem at low speed stopping where the engage and disengage each side the calipers.
Driver side power seat motors stop working now and again.

My understanding is that wagons are still popular in Europe, but here in the states, wagons had to compete with mid size SUVs and all brands of wagons haven't done well. (BMW, Mercedes...)

 

I searched to 6 months to find the one I purchased, has DSC, and was in the price range I wanted. (I have heated seats.)

 

On a side note for us wagon owners, Jaguar wagons aren't dead! If I could afford one, I'd love to get my hands on a XFR-S Sportsbrake! 5L supercharged Wagon!!!! I read that they will introduce the model to the USA this year. Fastest production wagon on sale! 186mph (300km/h).

 

The wagons were more popular in the UK where they were used by luxury car hire agencies for airport runs and the like.

When I picked up my F-Type in February 2015 I asked if I could custom order the 2015 or 2016 XFR wagon in a North American specification to replace my elderly 2006 X-Type Sportwagon. My dealer made enquiries: JLR wasn't producing market specific parts for the XF wagon like tail-lights. Rear lights need to be North American specification. Still, if I was interested in a XFR wagon my dealer said JLR SVO could build me one. "But if you have to know the price you can't afford it."

My daughter has my X-Type in Boston, it has 135,000 miles, still going strong with only minor issues, it's coming back to me in late May. The dog will be happy as it's easier to get into than the wife's Subaru.

 

My partner called Jaguar and this is what we were given in an E-mail. here you go. this is just for the 2005 model year. We also found out that 2060 were sold in North America all the years.

I bought my 2006 Sport Wagon in 2007, it was a "Dealer Demo" and had 10,000 miles on it. Two or three years later, when Jaguar stopped importing all X-types I read a blurb in Car and Driver that Jaguar only imported 1,502 of the Sport Wagons to the USA (I don't think this number includes Canada & Mexico, not sure). It was a great car but was getting expensive to keep. Someone in town bought mine a few years ago, they ran it for a year and then the 4-wheel-drive transfer case blew up, this is a $1,800 part (if you have a good rebuildable core), plus 8-hours of labor if you know what your doing to put it in. I was offered the car back for free. I don't know what the owner did with it (it had 152,000 miles on it when I sold it), maybe parted it out on eBay.
Would love an F-Wagon, I don't think my dog fits in the iPace.

 

i only have 101810 on mine got it with 54800 I think it was around there. Ive had my transfer case replaced that was the most expensive item on my list. but honestly it has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. the only maintenance ive had to complete has been regular ware items. brakes all around a year ago, oil and filter changes every 5000, miles and the book says 10,000. rotate the tires and regular maintenance, if I spend more than 100 per year on my regular maintenance. I had the transfer case gasket replaced a few years ago and that has been it. I read a review on line a few years ago regarding the X-type.. it was the car that never lets you down. and I have never been on the side of the road wondering what the heck is wrong...

and we heard from the dealer we went to locally that the total number of wagon units were 2060 over the 4 or 5 yrs of importing to us.

Makes me happy knowing I have 3 X-type Estates. One with 120K miles, one with 90K miles and one with 53K miles. All 3 run well, but the one with 120K is having issues and eventually will become a parts car to help keep the other 2 alive.

 

Nice conversing with you. I just hope my radiance 2005 wagon sells swiftly. I'm not really trying hard enough though.
